Memorial Day Goes Online
In honor of Memorial Day, the Village of Lake Bluff will host a virtual observance ceremony that will be available for online viewing on Monday, May 25 at 9:00 a.m.
Filmed in front of the Veteran’s Memorial at the Village Green, the ceremony will be shared online through the Facebook pages of the Village of Lake Bluff, Lake Bluff Strong, and the Lake Bluff History Museum.
Village President Kathy O’Hara will be joined by several Lake Bluff residents for the ceremony including Steve Drum, a recently retired Navy SEAL Master Chief. Other participants include Walt Sloan and three Lake Forest High School seniors: Mark Smirnov, Joey Goodsir and Laine Gamrath. Tom Marks will participate on behalf of American Legion Post 264.
O’Hara is glad that the tradition of holding a ceremony can remain unbroken. "Though we can’t come together on the Village Green this year, we look forward to commemorating this special day with the virtual presentation and celebrate the spirit of community together from wherever we are,” she said.
