New Marketplace for Local Art
Artists on the Bluff has created a Facebook group called Artists on the Bluff Marketplace. The artists will post images of artwork for sale, promote other art fairs and art organizations, and highlight their involvement in the Lake Bluff and Lake Forest community and beyond.
The artists created Artists on the Bluff Marketplace because the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of its June art fair as well as the temporary closure of its year-round art gallery at The Gallery restaurant in Lake Forest.
"As a group we have always relied on the community to engage in dialogue and support the arts, so this new Facebook group is a way for us to connect with the community," said Sandie Bacon, president of Artists on the Bluff. “We are also aware that online sales have become more prominent in recent years, and we wanted to create a place where we can showcase our work and also highlight our local connections."
For example, many of the artists were commissioned to paint dogs for the upcoming Dogs on the Bluff public art installation sponsored by the Lake Bluff 125 Committee and Lake Bluff History Museum – those images will be shared on the Artists on the Bluff Marketplace. And many AOTB members produce artwork, graphic design and other materials for community groups such as the Lake Bluff Farmers Market, Lake Bluff History Museum, Citadel Theatre and more; these works also will be shared in Artists on the Bluff Marketplace.
Bacon will admin the Facebook group with AOTB Vice President Phillip Ross and Treasurer Paulette Colo.
