Sunrise Beach To Close Tuesday for Sand Installation -- But It's Not What You Think
Sunrise Beach is scheduled to be closed to the public on Tuesday, July 14 while sand replacement takes place. Heavy equipment will work to grade and level existing sand before new sand is delivered.
The sand is coming from the quarry the Park District has worked with in the past, Jeff Spillman, spokesman for the Park District, told LakeBluffStrong. He said Tuesday's sand delivery is not coming from Waukegan Harbor, which is part of a program proposed by the Army Corps of Engineers a while back.
"The sand from the Army Corps is not coming until the board decides on it and public meetings are held," he said.
When the public meetings are held, people will be given an opportunity to voice their opinions about the Waukegan Harbor sand.
